About Anaheim, California

A city of economic activity and a center for entertainment are what some might say about the city of Anaheim. Anaheim, California, is a city of about 300,000 people, the tenth-largest in California. Its name is a contraction of "Ana" taken from the nearby Santa Ana River, and "heim," a German suffix meaning "home."

If it is entertainment that you are looking for from the city of Anaheim, you will have no problem. There is an array of entertainment from theme parks, water parks, museums, wineries, casino’s, and so much more. Disneyland is the undisputed king of Anaheim tourism, the attraction that made the city what it is today. The Disneyland Resort features Disneyland, the 50-year-old theme park that most people believed would never succeed, Disney's California Adventure, a California-themed sister park opened in 2001, and Downtown Disney, a shopping and dining area that connects the theme parks and Disneyland hotels.

For someone who is looking for more physical activities, Anaheim has many sports options. Volleyball and basketball are both available on the beach. Kayaking, hiking, and even yoga on the beach are available. Anaheim residents and visitors enjoy watching major league baseball (Anaheim Angels) and hockey (Mighty Ducks) as well.

Every month in Anaheim there is something to do. The city has many annual events such as The NAMM Show, SCMA Boat Show, Cinco De Mayo Fiesta, Fall Festival, and much more. One of the more interesting events is the Natural Product Expo West held in the month of March. This event is a show of the newest health foods, sports nutrients and other natural products.
